Description

Green Fire Tetra (Aphyocharax rathbuni)

The Green Fire Tetra (Aphyocharax rathbuni) is a vibrant and active freshwater schooling fish prized for its shimmering emerald-green body and flashes of fiery orange-red in the fins. Constantly on the move, these energetic tetras bring life and motion to planted community aquariums, where their metallic coloration becomes even more striking under quality lighting.

Native to South American waterways, Green Fire Tetras are hardy, peaceful fish that thrive in groups of six or more, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. They do best in well-planted aquariums with open swimming space and appreciate stable water conditions with gentle to moderate water flow.

These omnivores readily accept high-quality flakes, micro pellets, frozen foods, and live treats such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet helps maintain their brilliant coloration and overall health.

Green Fire Tetras are compatible with many other peaceful community fish, including rasboras, corydoras, dwarf cichlids, peaceful gouramis, and other small tetras. Their active schooling behavior and eye-catching metallic sheen make them an excellent centerpiece for a lively planted aquarium.

Whether you’re creating a South American biotope or simply looking for a colorful, energetic schooling fish, the Green Fire Tetra is a beautiful and rewarding addition to nearly any freshwater community aquarium.
